Why Day by Day?

I have to start off by being totally honest, blogging is not something I wanted to do. I really felt, and still do at times, that I would not have time for it. However, my wonderful mother-in-law has been gently nudging me along for about 3 years or more. She wanted me to be able to share with friends and family all the prayers the Lord has answered, all the ways He has shown Himself mighty on our behalf, all the stories of all the places we have been, and now our life on our island home of Guam.
When I started considering the blog, I knew what it would be called. It is based on my most favorite hymn and it is how I try to live my life. That is a lot easier to type than to live. I am a planner, I like having a schedule, but 4 years on deputation the Lord taught me take each day as it comes and not worry about tomorrow, He already has it covered. So, below are the lyrics to "my" hymn, enjoy!

Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Every day, the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He Whose Name is Counselor and Power;
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.

Help me then in every tribulation
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
Ever to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till I reach the promised land.

The blog may be called Day-by-Day, however that does not gaurantee that it will be updated everyday! :)
